Rotary Prayers
AT THE TIME OF INVOCATION, WEEKLY MEETINGS
The world over, Rotary Clubs come out with different versions of "Rotary Prayers" that may be recited at important occasions, such as during invocation at the start of every weekly meeting of the club.
These prayers, besides helping one to focus on the purpose behind so many men and women gathering at one place at the given time, also help to set the tone for the agenda. Hopefully, negotiating through the agenda becomes easier after invoking the name of Paul Harris in the prayer!
Here is one prayer, written by Rtn Tom Turpin (RC Clayton, Missouri). The prayer was posted by Rtn Todd Lindley (RC Overland, D 6060) on ROTI Yahoo! Group. (Thanks, Rtn Todd, for spreading the good word):
"We are thankful for the life of Paul Harris And his work in starting the Rotary movement.
a vision of what life at its best can mean.
And help them to be true to the Four Way Test.
who offer their lives as Rotarians.
Please guide us in our efforts to seek new
members. Let no one who wishes to be a member of Rotary Miss the opportunity to join.
Generations of citizens who will live by standards of honor and duty.
And lay the foundation for a world in which all people are held to be brothers or sisters.
We raise funds for the worldwide
eradication of polio. In the Name of the Master of all Rotarians."
